Product Overview:

A mononuclear cell is any cell that has a single round nucleus; examples of a mononuclear cell are lymphocytes, monocytes, and dendritic cells. These cells are critical components of the immune system which are involved in both humoral and cell-mediated immunity. The mononuclear cell is a widely used product in research and clinical applications such as in microbiology, virology, oncology, vaccine development, transplant and regenerative biology, and toxicology.

Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) are isolated from leukopaks collected in HemaCare’s FDA-registered collection centers following cGMP and cGTP collection guidelines from IRB consented healthy human donors. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) are purified by a density gradient centrifugation and are available in fresh or cryopreserved format. Apheresis-derived mononuclear cells are highly purified, containing a more pure population of mononuclear cells when compared to buffy coat.

Storage Conditions:

Use fresh PBMCs immediately upon receipt. Be sure to remove HypoThermosol® prior to use. If not used immediately, temporarily store cells at 0-4°C or freeze for long-term storage.

For cryopreserved PBMCs, either prepare cells for long-term storage in Liquid Nitrogen vapor phase or thaw for use. Storage in liquid phase nitrogen is NOT recommended. Short-term storage of cells (less than 2 weeks) at -80°C is acceptable but should be minimized to ensure maximum stability. Once thawed, samples must be used immediately.
